OKO Level-2 filtering technology was originally developed for NASA and used on the ISS (International Space Station). Simply put, it is the most advanced water filtration technology. Materials created for specific use by NASA are developments due to the extreme conditions to which they are subjected. They are superior to anything else out there.
The OKO Level-2 replacement uses two filters: an activated carbon filter and an electro-adsorption filter sourced from NASA in collaboration with Argonide and Ahlstrom.

In addition to its 2 micron pore size, the material uses a silver-enriched and positively charged nano-fiber membrane with an electro-adsorption (attraction and retention) process to attract and trap harmful agents much smaller than its pore size in instantaneous time. Filter materials are FDA regulated and meet NSF/ANSI 42 requirements.

In this way and according to laboratory tests based on NSF/ANSI Standard 53, it removes 99.99% e-coli bacteria and 99.99% cryptosporidia and giardia lamblia.
