Fernox Power Cleaner F8 is a high power cleaner based on citric acid, which has been developed to remove mud, sediments and scale from heavily soiled heating systems. Ideal for retrofit scenarios and boiler replacements where existing systems need to be cleaned thoroughly and quickly. The power of this fast-acting pH-neutral cleaner delivers superior cleaning in less time to your space. A single concentrated bottle can be used to treat larger central heating systems up to 130 liters (16 single radiators) or 250m2 of underfloor heating. The electric cleaner F8 helps with powerful flushing and increases the efficiency of manual and magnetic cleaning processes. This foam-free formulation means that the time spent on-site removing cleaner residue from the system is less. The neutral pH also means that no neutralizing product is required. Compatible for use with all metals and materials, including aluminum commonly used in heating systems.

Application, placement and dosage

One 500ml bottle of Power Cleaner F8 is enough to clean a large domestic central heating system (130 litres), which covers 97% of UK domestic housing. Additional / repeated applications of Power Cleaner F8 may be necessary for systems that have more than 130 liters or 16 radiators, or if the systems have a lot of sludge.

First drain and refill the entire system with clean water. For best results, the entire system, including stepper bodies where present, should be fully drainable. Preferably, temporary full-bore slide valves with hose connectors should be provided for this purpose. Motorized and thermostatically controlled valves must be adjusted so that no part of the system is cut off during cleaning or flushing.Discharges must be made to the foul drain and not to the surface water drain. For open vented systems, add Power Cleaner F8 through the collector tank. For sealed systems, add via a towel rail, TF1 system filter or other suitable dosing point.

The Power Cleaner F8 can also be used in conjunction with a power washer. In this case refer to the unit manufacturer’s instructions. Power Cleaner F8 must be circulated for at least one hour at normal operating temperature. However, to remove hardened iron oxides and salts, the cleaning time can be extended for up to a week under the normal heating cycle. If one cooler still has a cold spot after one hour, increase the flow through the cooler by closing the valves on the other coolers.

In some cases, an additional or repeated dose of Power Cleaner F8 may be required. Drain and rinse well, at least twice, until the water is empty. When using Power Cleaner F8 with a power flush machine, use power flush with mains water until the water runs clear. Refill the system by adding Fernox Protector F1 (or Fernox Protector + Filter Fluid for systems with integrated system filter) for long term protection against corrosion and scale In a single feed indirect cylinder, e.g. “Primatic” or similar, drinking water chemicals should be used.
