Description

Protector F1 is the market leading inhibitor that prevents corrosion and scale formation in domestic central heating systems. This high performance product offers superior protection by uniquely combining three organic particle inhibitors, which bind to the metal within the heating system to protect against residue alongside anode inhibitors that react with the system’s metal surface to create a protective layer, and cathode inhibitors that combine with hard water salts to form an insoluble layer.Fernox Protector F1 also includes an enhanced pH regulator to ensure that the pH level of the system water does not fall below 6.5 or above 8.5 – the optimal pH range to prevent corrosion and scale build-up. In accordance with local regulations and best practice and for long-term system protection, concentration levels should be maintained and tested annually as part of the boiler or system. Protector F1 is compatible with all other Fernox products and is suitable for use with all materials and metals used in central heating systems, including aluminium.

Application, placement and dosage

Fernox Protector F1 provides long-term protection in domestic central heating systems against internal corrosion and scale formation. It is suitable for all types of boilers, radiators and pipes. Protector F1 is compatible with all common metals and materials used in central heating systems. It is suitable for use with all types of water, even with softened or deionized water.A single dose of this product treats and protects a larger property with a 130 liter heating system, up to 16 radiators or 250 sq m. underfloor heating. For open vent systems, add through the orifice and expansion tank. For sealed systems, add via a suitable dosing point (eg a towel rail or in-line system filter). Alternatively, use a suitable dosing container to dispense the product into the system. In indirect single feed cylinders,e.g. “Primatic” or similar, drinking water chemicals should be used. Protector F1 has been formulated to have the best pH buffering agent in its class, which maintains the pH of the water system in the range of 6.5-8.5, thus offering optimal protection in systems with different metals. To ensure compliance with BS 7593:2019, Protector F1 levels must be tested annually. The concentration of the product can be easily measured on site using a Fernox Protector Test Kit. BS 7593:2019 also states that after 5 years systems must be re-dosed or a laboratory test carried out.
